Cronewort, the Divine

Planet: Venus and the Moon

Nature: Feminine

Element: Earth

Astrology: Taurus or Libra

Pretty often I have prophetic dreams. This has been the case since I’m a preteen. It took me a long time to understand that the dreams were in fact prophetic. I just figured it to be coincidence when in my waking day something would happen very similar to how it was said or done in my dream the night before. Through council with my mentors and through experience I came to understand the prophetic nature of these dreams.

At some point in my journey I learned that Mugwort,

Artemisia vulgaris L. is a powerful ally when it comes to lucid dreaming and astral projection. I have never created a dream pillow as some would suggest, but I have and still do, take the dried herb and place it inside of my pillow case before going to sleep. Some nights I have a warm mug of this wort tea before bed also. These acts alone enrich my dream state and enhance the prophetic nature of my dreamtime. Mugwort can be burned as an incense and also if you like, is sometimes smoked alone or as part of a smoking blend. Both these methods of working with the plant are known to enhance subconscious awareness. Soaking in a tub of mugwort and lavender can be a soothing and peace promoting activity as well.

Mugwort is used to ward off malicious and negative energies. A floor wash made from this herb can be used to “cleanse” your house of any negativity. Simply steep the herb in half and half of grain alcohol and water. Let it sit in a cool dark place for at least two days up to two weeks. Clean your house and floors like regular. As a last and most important step wipe the floors from the back of the house to the front with the herbal wash. Additionally you can wipe the doors down also since people carry their energy through this opening into your house. Dried mugwort, crumbled can work in houses with carpet for the same purpose. Crumble dried mugwort. Spread it over the carpet to be cleansed. Let it sit for at least an hour. Vacuum the carpet.

Mugwort leaves can be hung on a door to protect the home from unwanted energies also.

I wouldn’t suggest activating all of this methodology for mugwort at the same time. Think about what you wish to utilize mugworts properties for, then choose the method(s) of approach.

Mugwort is a powerful medicinal herbal ally as well. In fact, many people don’t know much about her magickal aspects as they do her medicinal ones. Let’s explore the ways that Mugwort supports the body internally.

Mugwort is an antifungal like many of the other plants in the Artemisia family. It is great for aiding in reducing inflammation especially of the digestive system. Taken as a tea or tincture, mugwort has been known to create balance and calm inflammation. Due to its antifungal properties it is great for killing candida in the gut and also for fungus topically. Think jock itch or athlete’s foot.

One of things that I love most about mugwort is it’s affinity for the womb. It is sometimes dubbed moonwort because of it’s uterine supportive attributes. Painful menstruation can be subdued or even eliminated by taking mugwort internally. It does so by stimulating the uterus. Let’s get a little deeper into how Mugwort acts as a uterine tonic.

Some women have scanty periods or have amenorrhea, skipped periods. Its key function is as an emmenagogue, which are herbs that stimulate pelvic blood flow and menstruation. It helps to tonify the female reproductive system. In 1653 Culpeper wrote, “[women use mugwort] to draw down their courses, to help the delivery of the birth, and expel the after-birth. Is also for the obstructions and inflammations of the mother.” In China, mugwort is also considered bitter and warming in nature and is indicated for menstrual disorders, bleeding, abnormal vaginal discharge, eczema, sores, and “restless fetus”. When taken regularly, mugwort will decrease abdomen cramping where there is excess Vata or air. Use in combination with ginger in a tea to soothe difficult menstruation.

Although this plant has many wonderful benefits, caution should be taken by some. Do not use Mugwort if you are pregnant or nursing. Do not use Mugwort if you have pelvic inflammatory issues due to its ability to cause uterine contractions.

What are the ways that Mugwort aides and supports your body?
